Link to External Data
A new function for linking external databases has been added to Data Console. We now offer two generic methods, those being ODBC and OLE DB.

Currently external data links only work with the PBW suite running locally under Windows but there are plans to add these functions to the web based version of the same, as well as Data Console running as an independent module.

RFID Services Now Available
We have now successfully added an RFID service to the Unity suite. The application comprises two parts, an application for an RFID enabled mobile telephone and the handler sub system that sits in our Data Console module.

An RFID tag can be thought of as a small label that can store a little bit of information and can in turn be scanned by things like mobile telephones. Scanning an RFID tag allows us to send information to a database or retrieve information from a database according to what the label says. So imagine an apple with an RFID tag, when we scan it we might retrieve information such as "Golden Delicious" or "Grown in England". We could equally attach information against the apple such as "Tasted sweet" or "had gone rotten"). These tags are exceptional for tracking systems, such as people coming or going, or objects moving around.

Two New Objects Added to Data Console
Two new data objects have been added to Data console, both enhanced versions of our popular Data Bind object.

These objects allow easy multi select of relational items from within a table structure. Like the Data Bind object, they allow relationships to be formed within your database without understanding entities or data engineering.

New PBW WIKI Module
Now all those using the full version of the PBW suite will benefit from our very own PBW WIKI module. Unlike a traditional WIKI, our new module allows rapid build of contextual information to a central point without any need of programming or code. A simple point and click GUI is all you need master to compile reports and build information using data from across the entire suite. The system is ideal for building reports or information systems where you wish to use information of different formats from different parts of the system, such as documents from Document Manager, data from Data console and so on.

A new PBW WIKI pebble has also been added to Case Manager allowing easy integration to case flows.

Form Bind Added to Data Console
We have now added Form Bind to our popular Data Bind object in Data Console. This will allow you to more easily create forms with sub forms that integrate together. We have already integrated the new object into the Reports module so reporting from data gathered using a bound form is very easy.

What is Unity?

Put simply, Unity is a group of software applications (we call modules) that can work alone as individual programs or be grouped together to form larger, more comprehensive solutions.  It's rather like Lego bricks, one brick can always be used as a brick, but take a whole bunch of them and you can form larger, more complex structures.

Is Unity Expensive?

Actually, in many ways, by using Unity you will actually save money.  Unity software solutions are available on either an annual or monthly subscription which means the cost can be spread and while the payments are ongoing, they include support.

In addition, as opposed to conventional off the shelf software, all upgrades and new versions are immediately made available to you.  That means that a few years down the line you wont have to pay out more to get the latest version.

Perhaps one of the biggest savings is in consultancy.  We believe strongly in the empowerment of business to be able to manage and develop their systems according to their requirements without expensive expert help.  That means being able to run your own reports or tweak system functionality without any qualified knowledge.

What Modules Currently Exist?

At the moment we cover CRM (Contact Management including email campaigns and reporting).  Data Management (quickly build web based databases without any programming knowledge or expertise with data engineering).  Document Management (simple to use program allowing you to save all your documents and files on the web also includes version control and search functions).  Case Manager (Arrange and manage your business processes with a full audit trail).

We also boast an RFID Manager (Manage integrated RFID processes with the rest of your system.  An RFID tag can be thought of as a small label that can store a little bit of information and can in turn be scanned by things like mobile telephones.  Scanning an RFID tag allows us to send information to a database or retrieve information from a database according to what the label says.  So imagine an apple with an RFID tag, when we scan it we might retrieve information such as ‘Golden Delicious’ or ‘Grown in England’.  We could equally attach information against the apple such as ‘Tasted sweet’ or ‘had gone rotten’).  These tags are exceptional for tracking systems, such as people coming or going, or objects moving around.

One of our more revolutionary modules is called CodeGenie (This is a web development system allowing HTML developers to create complex web based systems including Ajax, java script, PHP and MySQL without knowing any of those languages).

CodeGenie may also be used to integrate your website with existing business processes or data without the need of any programming knowledge.

How Can the Modules be Made to Work Together?

The modules have been created to automatically talk to one another.  So for example, files stored in the Document Manager can be linked to contacts or clients in the CRM (the file can even be added to the Document Manager through the CRM).  Another example might be a table in Data Console being locked to the CRM, from then on it acts as a storage facility for additional data for Clients and Contacts.  This means that at its base level we can keep the CRM simple and allow you to add what you need yourself.  This is a massive advantage as it means your system isn't cluttered with functionality you are not likely to use.

Is there a Suite available containing all of the Modules?

Yes, we have teamed up with Pebble Beach software to create the PBW (Pebble Beach Wired) suite.  This has all you will ever need to run your business.  Additional suites are available according to market, for example PBW Enterprise (for web developers).

The PBW suites also boast the PBW Wiki system.  This boasts an easy to use interface making its use far easier than any other Wiki system available.  The system allows you to tie any data and information from any part of the suite together allowing you to create reports and knowledge based systems that add context to documents, data and people.

Are New Modules Coming?

Yes, we are constantly updating our products and services and are currently working on Unity Communicator, an all in one communications program that includes SMS (send and receive), email, Twitter and Instant Messaging.  In addition the program includes a tray icon program and full integration with document manager and CRM.

In addition we are constantly adding new functionality to existing modules all of which is instantly available to all Unity subscribers.

What are the Advantages of Using Unity?

There are numerous ways in which using our system will benefit you and your company, here are just a few:

  • No Installation or set-up, the system works straight out of the box
  • Usually business  is bound to evolve its processes according to the functionality of the software they use.  When using Unity you can tweak your software to work according to your existing processes. Furthermore, you can continue to evolve the functionality of the system in line with your business
  • As a subscription based application you always have the latest version
  • Support included in the subscription fee (NOTE:  Higher levels of support are available)
  • Web developers can design things such as online shops, CMS systems and advanced online applications with only a basic knowledge of HTML required
  • Unity can be shaped into a fully working solution for your business very quickly and if there is something missing, we will add it so that there are no holes
  • The system can be added too without danger of additional layers causing instability
  • Unity can be used alongside other systems as a complimentary solution or integrated as replacement technology
  • Centrally stored data and files offers protection against loss through disasters such as computers breaking, fire or flood

What Size Companies Do You Usually Work With?

Due to our subscription based fee structure our software is affordable to companies of all sizes, offering enormous value over conventional off the shelf solutions.

Is it True I Can Create Complex Online Databases Even Though I Don’t Know Anything About Them?

Yes, we have developed a clever system that guides you through building even quite complex 'relational' table structures without knowing a single thing about data.  Better still these tables can be used in your website without knowing anything about programming.

Compared to Others, Your CRM looks Quite Basic?

Not so!  We believe in keeping things simple and for that reason we have made our CRM do only what a CRM needs to do.  That means that you do not find yourself overwhelmed with functionality you may never use.  The Unity system does provide some very easy ways to greatly enhance your CRM experience, without needing to be a programmer, so if you need a more complex CRM solution it is easily achieved.

Does Unity Only Work Across the Web?

Absolutely not, although its default use is across the Web, it can just as easily be installed to a site located server for use on an internal network or even a stand alone PC or laptop.

Is it Safe to Use Online Software?

Yes, it is very safe.  Remember that your computer system is susceptible to being hacked even if it is in your office as all that is needed is an internet connection.  In addition, unless you have a robust back up and disaster recovery policy, your on site solution is probably more at risk than one based on the web where the servers are kept in a safe location, regularly backed up and covered by recovery programmes to meet every possible eventuality.
